A
painting seminar is a gathering of artists either from the
private sector, a Tole &
Decorative Painting Studio, decorative painting group, or
SDP Chapter who wishes to hold a painting session with Roxanne
for a period of 2
or 2-1/2 days. And depending upon the subject matter, class
size can range from 10 students to as many as 30.
From
Roxanne's perspective, a painting seminar is a time where
you,
the artist and student, gets to experience an indepth painting
session. With Roxanne's relaxed and casual manner, she gets
to show you her version of decorative painting, and considers
it her distinct pleasure to share it with you.
Like
anything, decorative painting applications have no magic attached,
and when you know what makes something "tick" it
makes it becomes easy to understand. With the right tools
and teaching, anyone can master the techniques with their
paintbrush! Believe it!!!

Depending
upon the needs of your group, Roxanne custom tailors the painting
seminar to fit those needs and desires of your group.
Most all designs are at an intermediate to intermediate/advanced
level, so there leaves much to choose from to stretch your
group and expand their painting potential.
Falling
somewhere in the middle of fine art and tole painting, Roxanne
takes her own defined style of decorative painting, and instructs
the students to a more fluid, less contrived way of painting.
It is her main goal to teach students to cultivate their own
styles and influences into the designs with which they will
work. Imagine learning the artform of Baltimore Screen Painting.
But
that's just the beginning . . .

TRAVEL
expenses are the financial responsibility of the venue or
host. These travel arrangements will be made by Roxanne
(either air, rail, or car) and an itinerary will be forwarded
to the venue. These charges will be billed prior to
the seminar, or in the closing bill of the seminar, based
on the length of time between the booking and the seminar..
LODGING
arrangements should be made
by the host or venuet, in an indoor entering hotel comparable
to Holiday Inn, Mariott, or Ramada. This hotel room should
be pet-free, non-smoking.
TRANSPORTATION
should be provided by the venue
or host from the time of Roxanne's arrival until the departure
at the close of her stay. It should also be provided to
get her to the airport or train station on the day of departure.
DRIVING
Should Roxanne drive to
the venue, the current per diem IRS per/mileage fee will
be incurred for a round trip, originating
from Baltimore, Maryland to the venue, and back to Baltimore.
While
these custom-tailored seminars are full of technique and
learning, it is also important to have some fun while you're
working. Roxanne
says,
"To
create a learning environment that is comfortable and relaxed,
places the student in their comfort zone. When that "zone"
of comfort and fun are a dynamic in the cirriculum, the
student can then feel a freedom to experiment and grow,
to stretch and maximize their potential."

|
There
are lots of things we can do to make for an interesting seminar.
Roxanne's signature "filbert" roses, or perhaps your
group would like to try something on wood, slate, tin, or canvas?
Any of the projects published in her book, pattern packets,
or magazine articles are projects that are suitable for seminar
sessions. It is important to tailor the seminar to YOUR needs
and desires.
