INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Windows 95 and 98, 98SE, 98ME Operating System
STEP ONE: INSTALL POWERPOINT VIEWER
1. Insert CD-Rom into appropriate drive. Double-click on "My Computer";
then double-click on the drive for the CD-Rom. Double-click on "ppview97"
to begin installing. This very short installation will take just moments
to load. Follow the instructions as the installation wizard guides you.
We recommend closing any virus software before loading any software program.
STEP TWO: UNPACK YOUR FILES The file "pngsetup.exe" is what
you will use to unpack the files for the presentation. When you double-click
on the file (which will begin to run after doing so), you will be asked
to give a file extention that you will want to keep your files. Do the
following to get started:
1. At your desktop you will want to create a file folder
called "roses". Right click on the desktop, select "new", then "folder",
then name it "roses", (or any other name you wish to give this folder).
You should now see a new yellow folder on your desk top entitled "Roses"...
(or any other chosen file name you may prefer).
2. Go back to the desktop; double-click on "My Computer"
icon. Insert the CD into the CD-Rom drive. When the wiindow opens, double-click
on the CD-Rom drive icon which will reveal the files that are contained
in the CD.
3. Double-click on the icon entitled "pngsetup.exe" which
will open and prompt you for a file path. Type the following: c:\windows\desktop\roses
Press "enter". The files will now begin to transfer from the disk into
that file folder. This will take a fairly good amount of time (approximately
5 minutes) because of he large files that are contained on the disk. Please
be patient - - this is a VERY large presentation and it takes time for
these files to expand and be placed. Decompression time may vary from
computer to computer, based upon processor speed and system
4. When the files have been unzipped, you will be asked
if you would like to run the slide show now. Select "yes". If this last
step does not happen, at the Start Menu open your Power Point Viewer and
select the "Happy~6" or "Happy~7" file to view.
STEP THREE: VIEWING YOUR FILES Now that your information
is resident on your computer desktop, all you have to do from now on is
open the file folder "roses"; double-click the little eyeglasses (ppview97)
icon, and select either "Happy~6" or "Happy~7" file from the list.
TO PRINT TEXT FILES, LINE DRAWINGS, AND COLOR WORKSHEETS
Files may be printed directly from the Powerpoint Slide by right-clicking
mouse button and selecting "print"; or, you can open files through Adobe
Acrobat Reader. Most computers have a version of this free PDF file viewing
software already installed on their computers. If you do not have Adobe
Acrobat Reader installed, then you must go to www.adobe.com and download
the free program first.
All files in Adobe PDF format are printable and viewable. After you have
installed Adobe, from your desktop go to "Start"; then select "Adobe Acrobat
Reader". When Adobe has opened up, go to "FILE"; then "OPEN", and to the
right of "look in" - select the appropriate drive for the CD-rom disk.
You should see a list of 11 PDF files which contain linework, directions,
color worksheets, and terms. RECAP: "ppview97.exe" is the viewing software;
"pngsetup.exe" is the software which decompresses the presentation; and
"Adobe Acrobat Reader" is the software that allows you to view and print
.pdf files which are not in the slide show presentation.
